Golfer's Nest Remodel

The owners of this mid-century home wanted a home conducive to spur of the moment entertaining that is indicative as golf enthusiasts living on the course. The original kitchen didn't take advantage of the views, the dining room was a built-in banquette and the family room wasn’t relating to the open concept space the owners desired.

Partnering with Tim Leitner Construction, the goal for the remodel was to create a flow from the spacious vaulted living room and dining area (divided by a two sided fireplace), with a new kitchen and family room layout that welcomed the frequent guests to this friendly home. The new wine bar, Shaker style cabinets, quartz counters, subway tile, pendant lighting, fresh drywall and paint , windows, ceilings and stained beams, trim and hardware, and beautiful grey toned hardwood floors though out make this a special one level gem.  Entertaining will be an ease at this prime golf course location.

Cooper Mountain Tri-Level Remodel

Desiring more land and privacy to raise their two young girls, this couple left the comforts of their newer home to embark on a journey of remodeling with this 60’s home on acreage with a built-in pool.  H/S Interiors partnered with Mountainwood Homes for the new layout and initial bones of the construction, and then these homeowners rolled up their sleeves and continued the finishing touches of the remodel through their sweat equity. The original main floor, with less than 8’ ceilings and a wall dividing the kitchen/dining space from the living room, is now an open concept space. The new design showcases vaulted/beamed ceilings, shiplap walls, floating reclaimed shelves, all new dark blue kitchen cabinets, soft brass fixtures, stainless countertops, subway tile and hardwoods throughout.

The lowest level basement room would be any creative child’s dream with barn “chalkboard” doors concealing ample storage, double built-in bunk beds for sleepovers, an art center and (not shown) a sectional sofa/TV  and built-in kitchenette.

Universal Design Remodel

Challenge:
Custom ranch unaltered since the 1960’s. Cramped kitchen, narrow passages, poor flow.

Solution:
Design a remodel with an open floor plan for accessibility throughout the entire home for any age and capability of any occupant.
  • The walk through master closet was converted to sink vanities and built-in storage.
  • One vanity is open below the sink for wheelchair accessibility.
  • The original bathtub was removed to allow for a 5’ turning radius as well as a 5’-0  roll in shower.
  • The walls have been prepared for future grab bars & seat. Radiant heated non slip tile floors add to the spa like ambiance.

Mid Century Golf Course Home

Challenge:
The  original two sided masonry fireplace dominated the home and prevented flow for entertaining  and enjoyment of the golf course view.
The cramped master bath was also used as the guest powder room, with an additional door from the formal entry.

Solution:
  • Remove center fireplace and wall dividing the kitchen, dining room and living room, and adding a new gas fireplace and built-ins to the living room outside wall.
  • Design a new master bath with a large shower, double vanity, and private watercloset room.
  • Eliminate the additional door from the entry.

Aurora French Country Kitchen

Challenge:
A wall divided the original cramped 70’s kitchen from the living area and dining room. The homeowner is a frequent entertainer and wanted a gourmet kitchen open to the living area.

Solution:
  • The dividing walls were removed and the nook area was incorporated into the kitchen.
  • A large walnut island with honed granite counters allows for serving large numbers of guests.
  • For additional storage for china, a built-in buffet was designed for the dining room.
  • The Brazilian cherry hardwood floors from the hallway were continued in the living, dining and kitchen to add to the open flow of the new space.

Real Estate Office Tenant Improvement

Challenge:
The owners of Better Homes and Gardens Realty Partners chose a space in the Willamette Marketplace, West Linn  for  their newest office. The requirement was to have the office be a “café” like space, with no pre-assigned desks or cubicles and  an flexible layout for sales meetings and training.

Solution:
H/S Interiors collaborated with Jessica Iselin of Iselin Architects in Oregon City to prepare the architectural plans. The only enclosed spaces are the
Conference Room and the restroom/storage closet.
  • A coffee+wine bar add to the “café” ambience, as well as work counters set against the large windows with hanging glass pendants.
  • The floors are sanded and polished concrete with the exception of the Conference Room, with a glass “barn door,” which has cork floors for sound absorption.
  • The furnishings were kept modern and playful while the custom painted school house storage lockers are for agents to stash personal belongings.
